As a geologist and the daughter of a geologist who was electrified when the idea of continental drift began reshaping the profession (Oh, that makes me feel old: "I remember when continental drift was discovered."), I think we need to switch our focus from stopping global warming to
re-starting continental drift:
...the inexorable drift of Earth's tectonic plates isn't inexorable at all. In fact, the planet could be headed for another pause in continental drift, with uncertain and possibly ominous consequences.
